July 15th - Detention Facilities, Recalled Foods, and a House Fire

Over the weekend, Vice President Pence visited southern border holding facilities for migrants and illegal immigrants. He reportedly went to two different ones. The Donna facility that held families seemed fine, but the McAllen facility that held mostly single men was in terrible shape with people sleeping on the concrete in overcrowded conditions. A surprise inspection by the Department of Homeland Security a few weeks ago found poor conditions in both facilities.

There's a recall on hot dog and hamburger buns manufactured by Flowers Foods under a whole bunch of different brand names. They've all got a best buy date between July 17th and July 19th. The production company is worried that bits of plastic may have found its way into the food.

This isn't a huge story, but use this as an important reminder. A Gainesville home caught fire this weekend because someone left food cooking on the stove. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
