An infestation of German Cockroaches is one of the most annoying things you can deal with in your home. They are the little ones that refuse to die off no matter what you do. Well a recent study shows that insecticides don't do so well against them. Their rapid breeding cycle and general tenacity leads colonies to develop resistance to poisons. Blending poison, traps, and vacuums seems to be your best bet.
Part of Florida's new budget gives extra assistance to firefighters who get cancer. If he or she gets one of 21 different kinds of cancer, the state will pay for the full treatment along with a $25000 payout bonus. It also gives aid to a firefighter's family if they pass away from the disease
A couple of fun things to do on the 4th of July. Micanopy is having a festival with fireworks starting at 5:30 and ending at 10. They are also having a parade at 11 am. Starting at 3 at Alachua's Hal Brady Rec Complex there is another festival with fireworks at 9:30.
