June 19th - Cargo Cocaine, Dead Dolphins, and River Police

The feds seized 16 tons of cocaine in Philadelphia. It was being smuggled onboard a large commercial shipping vessel. Prosecutors in Philadelphia put the price of the seized drugs at about $1 billion.

The gulf coast area is dealing with an unusually large number of dolphin deaths. Over 270 have washed ashore since the beginning of February. That’s reportedly 3 times the usual number. The exact cause isn’t known, but experts think some of the reasons are freshwater exposure from new spillways and lingering effects from the BP oil spill.

Dunnellon police have a boat on the Rainbow River to help people who are in danger in the area. It’s all staged up and ready for rapid deployment. 2 people have died on the river in the last few months.
