The COVID-19 outbreak in Italy is getting more severe. 41 people died in a 24 hour period, raising the total deaths to around 150 with 3,900 infected. Italy is particularly venerable to the disease due to how old the population is. They have the second oldest population in the world, trailing behind Japan.
A bill mandating a moment of silence in public schools passed the Florida House. The bill says that teachers are not allowed to tell students how to use the time or what to think about.
Two hospitals in the area will be closing. Shands in Live Oak and Shands in Starke will be largely shutting their doors at the end of April. They will reportedly still operate as emergency rooms.
