November 12th - Hong Kong, Visit Florida, and Memorial Mile

 

Hong Kong is still shaking with turmoil. Pro-democracy activists in the city have been pushing for increased sovereignty from the greater Chinese government. Protests have been intense. Police forces have use tear gas, rubber bullets, and intense physical force on protesters numerous times. Recently, an officer used live ammunition to shoot a protester. There was also a recent incident where a man confronting a pro-democracy group was doused with flammable liquid and set on fire by a masked man.

Governor DeSantis has announced an addition to the VisitFlorida website. A subsection within the website is now dedicated to helping military members and their families learn about events and discounts in the state. visitflorida.com/military.

The city of Gainesville has renamed a portion of NW 8th Ave. The section is now called the Memorial Mile, and you'll be able to see the purple signs. It's by the area with the planet statues.
