NASA Captures A Pic Of Two 'Sonic Booms' Interacting

Jets

NASA has captured a photo of two supersonic shockwaves interacting.

The shockwaves came off of two T-38 jets, and the sonic booms they produced are helping NASA create planes that move at supersonic speeds without the boom.

The supersonic shockwaves that come with faster-than-sound-travel are incredibly loud, and even have the potential to shatter windows. This is why many countries have banned supersonic flight. NASA hopes that their research will one day allow for commercial supersonic flights again.
