Elf The Musical

Based on the beloved holiday film, this hilarious comedy follows Buddy the Elf in his quest to spread Christmas cheer. As a young orphan, Buddy mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole where he is raised alongside Santa’s elves. Unaware that he is human, Buddy has many comical challenges but never loses his Christmas spirit. Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to discover his true identity, and help everyone remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Student Director, Hayden Smith, said, “While I am mostly a behind-the-scenes lighting tech, I was given the opportunity to direct Elf the Musical and I am so excited to be directing a story that turns my favorite Christmas movie into a musical. The story shares a heartfelt message that people of all ages can enjoy and even laugh at.”

This modern-day Christmas classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner ELF. With a talented cast of over 20 students, this musical will fill your family with holiday cheer. Buchholz Drama has won numerous performing arts awards under the leadership of Ted Lewis and always produces spectacular musicals. After all, the best way to spread Christmas Cheer is singing loud for all to hear.

Alex Rupp who plays Buddy says, “It’s a totally rewarding experience to not only be involved in a production with such a lovely message, but to get to share it with an audience and bring a little bit of Christmas joy to their evening is truly the best thing in the world.”

Buchholz Drama is looking for gently used non-battery-operated toys, especially ride on and larger toys for this production. All Donations will be given to children in need this holiday season. Please donate toys that are large enough to be seen by the audience. Toys will be collected through October 15, 2022.

ELF The Musical runs November 3 - December 11 with Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows at 7PM and Sunday matinees at 2PM. Ticket Prices are $15 general admission, $12 Students, $10 group rate and free for BHS faculty.

Elf is a musical based on the motion picture of the same name, with a score by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin. The book is adapted by Bob Martin and Thomas Meehan from the 2003 film.
