Modern House Cats Are Bigger Than Their Viking Ancestors

 In general, animals shrink when they are domesticated. For instance, the average dog is about 25% smaller than the grey wolf. The modern day house cat on the other hand, is surprisingly bigger than its ancestors.

Researchers recently went through cat skeletons from the Viking age, and discovered that domesticated cats have grown by 16%.
